About Golden Krust Caribbean Restaurant
A fast-casual takeout Caribbean & Jamaican restaurant, conveniently situated on the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Empire Blvd in Brooklyn near Prospect Park. Known for their family recipes of classic Caribbean food staples, from Jamaican beef patties and coco bread, to jerk chicken, oxtail, and curried goat or chicken. Offerings now include vegetarian and beyond meat alternatives. The bakery boasts numerous enticing options including spice bun, hard dough bread, and carrot cake (among many more delectable items).
I went to the Nostrand Ave location near Empire in BK. I have repeatedly been disappointed by entrées from this location but it was 11:30 AM and Gloria's was closed and I was starving. The Curry Goat I ordered looked like a small portion of leftovers in the serving anrea and the gravy seemed quite thin but I did not follow my instincts and bounce. I took it home. The large carry out felt light and that extended throughout the meal. The curry and meat were fairly unseasoned and portions of meat were small in proportion to its flavor. The gravy was lighter than expected. The rice and peas were basic and no plantains were offered or given. I had not had curry goat in a long time and it took time for me to realize that this store is unloading food that should be discarded for almost $18. They win the last of my money they will see here or at any location.
It's a typical Golden Krust. The patties are consistent. Sometimes they run out of chicken patties. Place is small, so really just takeout.
I bought a soup for the very first time from this restaurant on Nostrand on Tuesday April 7, 2026 and it gave me the most vile food poisoning i’ve ever gotten in all my years of life. Today is Friday April 7, 2026 and i’m still having diarrhea!! I’m a person who doesn’t eat out at all, unless necessary and that day i wanted soup while i was out and got recommended to them, I hadn’t eaten all morning and I was going to be out for longer than I had anticipated so i stopped there and got a red peas soup. Ever since I drank it, it refused to digest, no matter what i did and by Wednesday morning 1AM, I was up vomiting and shitting my insides out! You people ought to take full responsibility where food safety is concerned. It’s simply not possible for you to make a fresh batch of soup first thing in the morning and said soup sets someone’s stomach off like that? if it is that you people are selling over night food/soup, atleast store is properly and if you can’t do that simply throw it away. This could’ve gone much worse where i’m concerned because what ever bacteria was growing in that batch of soup is nothing normal. i haven’t eaten in almost 3 days because of this. I would never, ever buy from you guys again nor will I ever recommend this spot to people
